Soon after the celebrations of Eid al Adha, is the beginning of the Islamic New Year which marks the beginning of the holy month of Muharram. Over centuries, Mumbai has had a history of how this period of mourning has been commemorated in the city and its importance in defining the fabric of this metropolis. Join us for this short walk as we bear witness to some of the practices observed during the first ten days of Muharram leading to its 10th day, marked as Ashura.
Please ensure that your clothing is well covered upto the ankles. Also, keep a provision to cover your head as and when required. We recommend that you dress in black and wear footwear that is easy to remove.
