The Ballard Estate precinct is a beautiful example of urban design in early 20th-century Mumbai, reviving an architectural style that was popular in Europe during the Renaissance period. Its heritage continues to be lovingly preserved even as the precinct is changing from a business and shipping district to a retail precinct. On our #BallardBolt walk powered by the precinct’s Tilfi flagship store, which too is preserving a centuries-old heritage from Banaras, we take a look at the precinct’s history and heritage and showcase institutions that continue to preserve this slice of ‘Edwardian London’ created in our city by the Port Trust.
