Today, Bandra is one of Mumbai's most sought-after areas, but did you know that till 1950, it was a separate Municipality and before that, a separate island?! In the 1840s, Bandra was connected to Mumbai by the Mahim Causeway and new residents began to move in - among them, the Parsis. On the hills and seafront of Bandra, they built country homes for themselves, as well as convalescent homes for the sickly of the community. On our #ByramjeesBandra walk, we explore the origins of not just its Parsis, but that of its other immigrant cultures as well - Catholic, British, Muslim, and Bollywood!
