In the 19th century, global events and international travels helped Indians craft interconnected political and economic agendas. Three important personalities from India, Bengali industrialist Dwarkanath Tagore, the Bengali reformer Rammohan Roy, and the merchant prince from Bombay, Jamsetjee Jejeebhoy, knitted together thick personal and institutional ties across borders. At our online talk, #TagoreRoyJejeebhoy, historian and author, Dr Dinyar Patel will tell the story of these three important figures, and how their participation in global political and economic debates influenced the trajectory of early Indian liberal politics.
