The gharanas, India’s musical lineages, have been shaped not just through the art of their practitioners, but also through their movement across regions. At our Online Talk #Chinchwad2Gwalior, vocalist Meeta Pandit of the Gwalior gharana traces the journey of families like the Chinchwadkars who migrated from Chinchwad to Gwalior and uncovers how personal identity, family legacy, and geographical shifts fuelled stylistic innovations and gave birth to some of the most influential gharanas in Indian music. She also weaves in interesting anecdotes, bringing alive the human side of our musical heritage - rich with nuance, humour, and deep cultural meaning.
