Owning a heritage property is a matter of pride, but the maintenance costs can be daunting. Unfortunately, that usually results in neglect and eventually the property falls into ruin, and gets lost to posterity. At our Online Talk #ValueAndValuation, civil engineer and heritage conservationist Alinto Coelho uses Goan heritage houses as an example and demonstrates how it is possible to conserve heritage properties. He explains how heritage houses can generate revenue that in turn could be used to ensure their conservation and upkeep. About the speaker Alinto Coelho is a civil engineer with an interest in preserving Goa's heritage houses. He has undertaken a documentation of Goa's heritage structures, personally visiting over 160 heritage structures in the last 36 months, including houses, temples, and churches/chapels. He has also upgraded and restored several of the state's heritage structures.
