Today, Indian cities like Mumbai are growing at an unprecedented pace. Documenting the change are a new breed of citizens – Mumbaikars armed with a digital camera and the ability to share photographs on the internet. Adman and blogger Gopal MS is one of them. Transformed by digital technology into a documentarian of Mumbai's streets as a photographer, he has been consistently exploring all parts of the city and looking for new stories to capture. Over the past fifteen years, he has paused and frozen moments in time in this ever-evolving, constantly changing city. Through his camera, he documents how people live, adapt, and reshape the urban landscape, and shares these stories freely across online platforms. At our Online Talk #MumbaiPaused, he presents a few stories he has witnessed which have helped him make sense of this dynamic city. About the speaker Gopal MS, better known by his Twitter handle @SloganMurugan, works in advertising and lives in Navi Mumbai, but it is the city on the other side of the creek that is his muse. His interest in documenting cities started in Bangalore where he was working earlier with a photoblog called “Which Main What Cross.” In 2009, on his return to Mumbai, he started documenting the city with his blog “Mumbai Paused.” In 2011, he started an Instagram page by the same name where he documents the city, one post at a time.
