The Salarjung Museum in Hyderabad is one of India’s most well-known landmarks. It is home to more than 40,000 rare objects of art. What is unique about them is that they were all collected by a single man – Nawab Salarjung III. The Nawab’s passion for art was unparalleled, but very little is known about him. At our Online Talk #AManAndHisMuseum, writer and researcher Akshay Chavan brings alive the life and times of Mir Yusuf Ali Khan, Nawab Salarjung III, and seeks answers to many unanswered questions about the man – How did Salarjung put this collection together? What was the fate of the Salarjung Palace? Where did the famed Salarjung Jewels ‘disappear’? Join him on a journey back in time to Asaf Jahi Hyderabad.
