Kanhojiraje Angre was the ‘sarkhel’ or the admiral of the Maratha Navy, and was responsible for establishing the Maratha might along the Konkan coast as desired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, not just militarily but also through trade and cultural exchanges. He and his descendants left an indelible mark on the Konkan through revenue, agricultural and judicial reforms. At our Online Talk #KanhojisKonkan, Raghujiraje Angre, a descendant of Kanhojiraje, takes us on a virtual tour of the Konkan coast during Kanhoji’s time and gives us a glimpse of the political and social structures then.
