45 years ago, photographer, historian and archivist Aditya Arya began collecting vintage photographic equipment. Over the years, his collection has grown to over 2500 cameras & photographic equipment dating back to 1850s. In 2009, the collection found a permanent home - Museo Camera in Gurugram. At our Online Talk #CameraKamara, Aditya Arya intertwines the history of photography with his collection’s journey from his basement to 18000 sq. ft. of space dedicated to the art of photography, and provides us a glimpse of his labour of love - Museo Camera.
About the speaker
An eminent commercial and travel photographer, Aditya Arya began professional photography in 1980 after graduating in History. Over the last few years, he has been completely immersed in the subject and practice of photographic conservation. At present, he divides his time between his photography archive and Museo Camera, the largest not-for-profit photography museum in South-East Asia, a unique partnership between India Photo Archive Foundation and the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram.
