The COVID19 pandemic has cast a shadow of gloom over the world. But it is not the first time in Mumbai’s history that it has faced a shock of this magnitude. Ever since the modern city of Mumbai took root in the 17th century, it has faced setbacks - from enemy attacks to accidents to natural disasters to terror attacks and more. Each time, the city recovered, took necessary steps to avert mishaps in the future, and emerged stronger. All thanks to what is perhaps the city’s greatest intangible heritage - the spirit of Mumbai! As part of #MumbaiInFrames exhibition KHAKI founder Bharat Gothoskar examines nine previous instances when the city of Mumbai came through trying times keeping its spirit intact.
