This day, 94 years ago, Father Agnelo de Souza, a virtuous priest and a renowned preacher from Goa, collapsed at the pulpit at the end of a sermon and died. The parish priest who buried his body remarked that he had laid a saint to rest. Though he never lived in Mumbai, his legacy lives on in the city with the Father Agnel Ashram at Bandra and various educational institutes in and around the city.
