Today is the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Salim Ali. For Mumbaikars of a certain generation, he was synonymous with the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), an institution with which he was closely associated. His love for studying birds was born at its premises, and he dedicated a lifetime to the Society, gifting it all he had - his knowledge, his time and his money.
