ThisDayThatYear: A FITTING HEIR TO A MUSICAL LEGACY



This day, 66 years ago, Pandit Dattattreya Vishnu Paluskar died of encephalitis in Mumbai at the young age of 34. Trained by his father, the great Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar (after whom the Royal Opera House chowk has been named) and later by his father's disciples, he achieved national fame as a vocalist before the age of 20, and was a living legend at the time of his untimely death.
