A walk around Mumbai’s most sacred spot – the Banganga Tank, ringed by temples, monasteries, graveyards, pilgrims’ inns and much more. This mini-Benaras will introduce you to the spiritual side of the city including the pantheon of Hindu Gods and the myths and legends that surround them.

Though the colonial city of Bombay was a symbol of British-Indian partnership with both sides contributing equally to the city’s development, its connections with the freedom struggle began in 1857 itself during the First War of Independence. Soon after that, Dadabhai Naoroji formalised the latent discontent into an organisation, and later, Lokmanya Tilak took it forward by taking it public. WIth Mahatma Gandhi and his arch-nemesis Mohamad Ali Jinnah taking over the mantle after Tilak’s death, the city became a hotbed of political activity related to the freedom movement. And at its epicentre was a little precinct stretching from Malabar Hill to Girgaon which witnessed many an important event in the freedom struggle. On our #AzadHind heritage walk, we explore this precinct and tell stories of its connections with the Indian independence movement.

Today Mumbai is a big bustling metropolis, but did you know, the city has rather humbler beginnings?! And it all began in the Fort area, where once upon a time, there used to be an actual fort with a moat around it. On our #Fort4Kids group tour of the city, specially curated for children of all ages, even the young at heart, we cross the moat to enter inside the Fort of Bombay and wander around its streets, understanding how the city began, ending at the spot that’s the birthplace of the city.

On this tour, you will rendezvous with one of the original inhabitants of the city – the Kolis (fisherfolk). Their village is a world in itself, with fabulous views of the sea and a colonial-era fort in the middle of the settlement! Witness temples and chapels that have (literally!) stood the test of both time and tide, and enjoy spectacular views of the sea-link, the Mahim bay and Mumbai’s skyline.

Our signature walk covers 500 years of history in a distance of 2 km over 2.5 hrs. It starts from where the first Europeans entered the city and ends where the last British soldiers left. The dismantling of the railway line between Colaba and Churchgate, and the reclamation of Marine Drive from the sea, both in the 1930s, gave birth to a premium patch of land. The 1930’s were also a time when new movements in art and music from the West were being transplanted in India, most notably Art Deco and Jazz.
