Heritage does not survive equally. Some monuments are illuminated, restored, and woven into national identity. Others survive quietly; neglected, misunderstood, or almost forgotten outside local memory. At our Online Talk #HighlightingHeritage, travel photographer Ajay Sood explores how architecture reflects not just history, but what societies choose to remember. From globally recognised icons like the Taj Mahal and Khajuraho to overlooked sites in Morena, Jammu, and rural India, he classifies heritage as thriving, surviving, or forgotten. Combining photography, travel, architecture, and visual storytelling, he asks what happens when parts of a civilisation fade from public memory, and whether photography can help people see them again before they disappear from collective consciousness.

About the speaker:
Ajay Sood is a Canon-credentialled Photo Mentor, award-winning travel photographer, jurist, and writer published in over 25 international magazines and journals including National Geographic Traveller, Condé Nast Traveller, and Travel+Leisure. He has personally photographed more than 110 UNESCO World Heritage Sites across 45 countries. Through his platform travelure.in, he has documented India's forgotten, overlooked, and misunderstood heritage, from prehistoric rock engravings in Goa to a crumbling Dogra palace in the heart of Jammu, building one of India's most distinctive visual archives of the subcontinent's civilisational breadth.
