Soft power refers to the ways in which countries attract and cajole rather than use force to further their influence. In India, soft power has been synonymous with yoga, cricket, Bollywood, and heritage monuments. Sadly, the use of cuisine as a tool to build cultural bridges and boost tourism hasn't been optimal. There is massive worldwide interest in Indian food currently. At our Online Talk #FlavourPower, author and food journalist Sona Bahadur will explain how a more inclusive and nuanced understanding of India’s cuisine through its classic or ‘mother’ dishes can help us fully honour our incredible culinary legacy and leverage it more strategically on the global stage.
