Marine Drive may be South Mumbai’s western seafront today, but the far humbler Maharshi Karve Marg on the other side of the tracks was the original seafront. Adjacent to the shore were grazing grounds - the Churney Oarts - on which cemeteries later came up. In the mid-1800s, the railway line pushed the sea further back, spurring the development of these idyllic oarts into residential and commercial real estate. On our #ChurneyOarts heritage walk, we walk on this fringe of the former west coast, narrating stories of its development, interspersed with the sights of remnants from the days when these parts were oarts.

The following “Terms and Conditions” shall be binding on each participant making a donation hereinafter referred to as (“The Donor”) to Khaki Heritage Foundation hereinafter referred to as (“KHF”) which is a Not For Profit Company Registered under Section 8 of the The Company’s Act, 2013 and having its registered number as U93000MH2018PTC305786 and its registered address at 802 Aster, Dosti Acres, Wadala East, Mumbai – 400037.
