India’s artistic heritage has been shaped by countless painters and movements, yet nine artists are often regarded as the “Navaratna” or Nine Gems of Indian Art for their exceptional artistic and aesthetic contributions. Though diverse in style and background, they share a common engagement with Indian identity, culture, and artistic traditions. At the KHAKI Talk #JewelsOfIndia at Khaki Lab, Fort, art historian Dr Nayana Tadvalkar explores the lives, works, and legacies of these iconic artists, including Raja Ravi Varma, Abanindranath Tagore and Nicholas Roerich. She will also share fascinating stories from their lives and work.
