Mughal-e-Azam, the immortal love story between Prince Saleem and Anarkali penned by Imtiaz Ali Taj, is a benchmark in Indian cinema. Originally released as B&W (part colour) in 1960, the movie was re-released in colour in theatres in 2004. The film again ran for 25 weeks in cinema halls. In 2016, a Broadway-style musical stage adaptation of the film was launched which too became a blockbuster. At our Online Talk #MughalEAzam, Deepesh Salgia, the pioneer behind the colour version and the stage adaption of Mughal-e-Azam, will take us through the film’s evolution from script to screen to stage.
