The Ellora Caves near Aurangabad are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and include the Kailash temple, the world’s largest single monolithic rock excavation. The complex comprises 34 rock-cut temples - twelve of them Buddhist, seventeen Hindu, and the remaining five Jain - with exquisite carvings. These temples were excavated between the 6th and 13th centuries CE. At our Online Talk #SymphoniesInStone, heritage management expert Anand Kanitkar talks us through this unique rock-cut temple complex.
